My Name is Rajini, I’m from Italy, I’m 27 years old, and I am from India. I went to Romania to study Communism. The question to which my video documentary would like to answer is: “How was life at that time?” I traveled in the past, interviewing the protagonists and walking through the cities in order to testify their stories and show their past. In my documentary film I show the ex-prison of Sighet, where thousands of people were imprisoned, sometimes without exactly knowing why. There were many reasons, but the main question there was “Are you with or against Communism?”. My aim is to show that time in another way: its places as well as its dark side, its silence as well as its suffer. We cannot change the past but we can learn from it, and maybe we will also be able to change the present and therefore our future.
